How do I fix a PDF that will not open?
Add it here. The readable content is parsed out and written into a fresh file with a rebuilt structure, which fixes most broken downloads and bad transfers. Pages that never arrived cannot be brought back.
What can this actually fix?
Damage to the structure that points at your content — a broken cross-reference table, a wrong end-of-file offset, junk appended by a bad upload or transfer. Those stop a PDF opening even though every page is still intact, and rewriting the file from scratch resolves them.
What can it not fix?
Anything genuinely missing. If a download stopped halfway, the pages that never arrived cannot be recovered by any tool — the data is not in the file. In that case you will get fewer pages back, or a message saying the file is beyond saving, rather than a file that still will not open.
Will it change how my PDF looks?
No. Pages, text and images are carried across exactly as they were found. Only the file structure around them is rebuilt.
