What this actually does

A password-protected PDF is encrypted with the standard PDF security handler. This authenticates with the password you give it, decrypts the file, and saves a plain, unencrypted copy — the same unlock step every other SlimFile PDF tool already does before it can touch a protected file, offered here on its own.

How do I remove a password from a PDF I can already open?

Do I need to know the password?
Yes — this removes a password you already have, it does not crack or guess one you have lost. Either the password that opens the file, or the owner (permissions) password, works.
What happens to the password afterward?
Nothing — it is sent once to unlock the file for this request and is never stored or logged.
Does anything else about the file change?
No. Text, images, fonts and structure are copied across exactly as they were — only the encryption is removed.
