How it works

  1. Step 1

    Drop a PDF

Drag up to 10 PDFs onto the page, or browse for them. Each can be up to 25 MB.

  2. Step 2

    Choose how to trim

Let each page be measured and cropped to its own content, or take a fixed margin off every edge.

  3. Step 3

    Download it

The pages keep their quality — cropping changes what is shown, not what is stored.

How cropping works here

Cropping sets the area of each page that gets displayed. Nothing is re-drawn and nothing is re-encoded, so the text stays sharp and selectable and the file loses no quality at all. The flip side is that the trimmed material is still in the file — software that ignores the crop box can show it again — so this tidies margins rather than hiding anything. Redact a PDF is the tool for removing something for good.

Trim whitespace
every page measured separately, so uneven scans come out even
Fixed margin
the same amount off each edge of every page
Lossless
nothing is re-encoded, so text stays sharp and selectable
Reversible
the crop box can be reset by any PDF editor

Why use SlimFile for this

  • Trims each page to its content

Pages are measured one by one, so pages with different margins are each cropped correctly.

  • Nothing is redrawn

Cropping only changes the visible area, so text stays sharp and selectable.

  • Free, no sign-up

No account, no email address, no trial that runs out.

  • No watermark

What you download is clean — nothing added to your file.

  • Deleted within an hour

Uploads and results are removed automatically about an hour after processing. We never look inside them.

Questions

How do I remove white margins from a PDF?
Add the PDF and choose trim whitespace. Each page is cropped to where its content actually stops. Keep in mind the trimmed area is hidden rather than deleted from the file.
Does cropping lose quality?
No. Cropping sets the area of the page that gets displayed; it does not redraw anything. Nothing is decoded or re-encoded, so text stays sharp and selectable and images keep every pixel they had.
Does the cropped-off part really go away?
No, and this is worth being clear about. The trimmed material is still in the file — software that ignores the crop box can bring it back. Cropping tidies margins; it does not hide anything. If something needs to be gone for good, use Redact a PDF.
What does "trim whitespace" do?
It measures each page in your browser to find where the ink actually stops, then crops that page to fit. Pages with different margins are each handled on their own, which is what makes it useful for scans where nothing lines up. A blank page has nothing to measure, so it is left alone.
Will the file get smaller?
Barely, if at all. The cropped material is still stored — only the displayed area changes. Run the result through PDF Slim if size is what you are after.
